On the 23rd April 2014, I came across a post on a friend’s Facebook page. She had started doing a 30 day gratitude challenge and I was inspired to take it on and do it again myself. I had previously participated a few years earlier and remembering how much I enjoyed it and how flat I was currently feeling, I decided it was a good time to do it again.
By the end of the first week I noticed a subtle change was coming over me. I was looking forward to each day’s post, I was feeling a little bit more positive about my life and I was becoming aware of how negative my thought patterns had become over the last few years.
So I decided to extend the 30 day challenge to a full year and see if actively looking for something to be grateful for each day would change the way I approached anything in life. To my surprise and enormous relief, it did. It changed everything in my life, the way I think, feel act and react and in doing this I found some answers to questions I didn’t even know I had.
Additional notes to each day’s post in italics were added after completion of the Year of Gratitude.
